COVID Vaccine

Appointment Scheduling

Updated September 12th, 2025:

Currently EVERYONE in the state of Georgia needs a prescription to get a COVID vaccine. Hopefully this will change with ACIP's upcoming meeting on Sept 18-19, 2025. They have to make their recommendations on it for pharmacies to vaccinate under the Prep Act or under Georgia's protocol laws.

We do have Comirnaty Age 12+ 2025-26 vaccine (Pfizer) on hand.

We do have MnexSpike and Spikevax Age 12+ 2025-26 (Moderna) on hand.

The Spikevax age 6M to 11yr should ship to us sometime next week.

* If you are age 65 or older, all we need is a prescription sent to us by your doctor and we will call you and set up your appointment. Yes you can get your flu shot at the same time.

* If you are under age 65, we need BOTH a prescription from your doctor AND either a diagnosis code for a listed condition as defined by the FDA's latest approval or a statement on the prescription from your doctor that says "patient is at high risk for developing severe COVID-19". Without a diagnosis code or statement on the prescription we cannot bill your vaccine to insurance as it would be off label. Cost is approximately $165.

Do not use the form at the bottom of this page. I can't get rid of it, but it is SO out of date. Like 5 years at this point. Have your prescription sent to us for COVID-19 Vaccine and we will call you and schedule you in once that part is ready to go.

Updated September 5th, 2025:

Pfizer Comirnaty Age 12+ 2025-26 vaccine is here! If we have your rx already, we are calling you now to set up your appointment. Moderna Spikevax 2025-26 Age 12+ and MNexSpike 2025-26 Age 12+ will be here by 9/9/25. Call your doctor and have them send over a prescription for the 2025-26 COVID vaccine and we'll call you and set up your appointment. And YES, you can get your flu vaccine at the same time.

Moderna Spikevax 2025-26 Age 6 months to 11 years is on order. We just do not have an expected delivery date yet. Hopefully it will arrive next week.

Updated September 3rd, 2025:

Our COVID-19 vaccine is on order and we think will get here sometime in the next week. However, we will have limited offerings of the new COVID-19 vaccines due to ACIP not making their 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine recommendations. Until we get ACIP recommendations, In the state of Georgia we can offer the updated COVID-19 vaccines to patients if they present an authorized prescriber's prescription. For insurance to cover your vaccine, the vaccine must be under FDA approved usage. What this means is for anyone age 65 or older we will just need a prescription. For anyone age 3 to 64 we will need both a prescription AND the statement that this person is high risk for developing severe COVID-19. ACIP is scheduled to meet again on September 18th and 19th. Hopefully they issue a current recommendation for pharmacies to work off protocol again.

What do you need to do to get your COVID-19 vaccine 2025-26?

- Age 65 or over: Call your doctor and ask them to send a prescription over (e-prescription, fax, or phone all work) for a COVID-19 vaccine 2025-26.

- Age 3 to 64: Call your doctor and ask them to send a prescription over (e-prescription, fax, or phone all work) for a COVID-19 vaccine 2025-26 AND put on the person is high risk for developing severe COVID-19.

Please know that we are as frustrated as you are about this. Call your state and federal representatives for any concerns or complaints.

Updated August 29th, 2025:

There is lack of clarity on COVID-19 vaccine recommendations this fall. It is recommended for anyone age 65+. The questions revolve around those age 6 months to 64 years of age. ACIP has not met yet, but hopefully will in the coming week. COVID-19 Vaccine preorders were available for the first time last night. We ordered. When it will arrive and who we can give it to without a prescription under age 65 is still in question. With a prescription from your doctor we should be able to administer regardless. How insurance will pay in the under 65 crowd is also in question. We have no idea yet. As the vaccine rolls out, appointments for the vaccine we have on hand will be updated. Learn more.

You can get the COVID vaccine at the same time with your annual flu shot. If you have questions on timing or what is best for you please call the store and we can give you individualized answers. 706-543-7386

It has come to our attention that gmail is blocking the confirmation emails. We don't know how to remedy this. If you have a question about whether your appointment came through, please give us a call. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please pick the correct age and vaccine appointment. We will verify which vaccination is appropriate for you at your appointment.

For your appointment, please wear a tank top or short sleeve shirt that allows easy access to the deltoid muscle. If you are getting a 2nd shot or booster shot, please bring your CDC COVID Vaccine card and your current insurance card (if you have insurance) to the appointment.

Hodgson's Pharmacy follows ACIP's recommendations for all of our vaccinations. If a vaccine is not ACIP recommended we can't do it until the recommendation formally changes. If you have questions about which vaccine is appropriate you can refer to the CDC website here or you can call us to discuss. 706-543-7386

We are committed to getting shots into our community as quickly as possible when authorized!

The FDA has given emergency use authorization to vaccines provided by Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna.

As COVID-19 vaccines are authorized and then recommended for use in the United States, it will be important to understand what is known about each vaccine. CDC will provide information on who is and is not recommended to receive each vaccine and what to expect after vaccination, as well as ingredients, safety, and effectiveness.

Currently, THREE vaccines are authorized and recommended to prevent COVID-19.

  • Comirnaty and Pfizer-Biotech COVID-19 Vaccine
  • Spikevax and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
